WWE 2K21 is canned, WWE has confirmed.
During WWE's financial call overnight, interim chief financial officer Frank Riddick said: "There's not going to be a launch of the game this year."
The news comes after last year's disastrous launch of WWE 2K20, which was panned by critics and saw various hilarious glitches go viral.
WWE 2K20 was the first game in the series primarily developed by Visual Concepts, the US studio responsible for the NBA games. Prior to this entry, the WWE games were co-developed by Visual Concepts and Japanese studio Yuke's.
The upshot was a game that was accused of being broken in pretty much every way imaginable, with graphics that look two generations old and gameplay nobody was happy with.
The official Twitter account of the game announced it would share more on Monday, promising "some exciting news".

Current speculation points to a non-sim WWE game coming out at some point this year.
