Cryptic has revealed the minimum and recommended system requirements for its space-faring MMO Star Trek Online, which launches in February.
You'll find them at the official site, and below.
System requirements:
- OS: Windows XP SP2 / Windows Vista / Windows 7 (32 or 64-bit)
- CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8 Ghz or AMD Athlon X2 3800+
- Memory: 1GB RAM

- Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card
- DirectX: Version 9.0c or higher
- HDD: 8GB free disk space

- Disc: 6x DVD-ROM
Recommended system configuration:
- OS: Windows XP SP2 / Windows Vista / Windows 7 (32 or 64-bit)
- CPU: Intel E8400 Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon X2 5600+
- Memory: 2GB RAM or better
- Video: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 / ATI Radeon HD 3850+
- Sound: DirectXcCompatible soundcard
- DirectX: Version 9.0c or higher
- HDD: 8GB free disk space
- Network: Broadband required
- Disc: 6x DVD-ROM
Not too steep, although prospective starship captains should note that these are very slightly higher than the system specifications for Cryptic's last game, Champions Online, which uses the same engine. We found Champions Online's performance wasn't particularly great on a machine with more or less the recommended spec. Hopefully Cryptic has been able to do some optimisation work since then.
