Red Dead Online: How To Earn Quick Cash, Right At The Beginning | Fast Money Guide

Red Dead Online is extremely stingy with cash. Here's how you can earn a boatload very early and get a headstart on the competition.

In the Wild West, cash isn’t easy to come by. New Red Dead Online weapons are expensive, and if you want to tool up and take down your enemies, you’ll want the very best. Early on, scrounging up some scratch takes a long time. Each mission rewards you with a paltry $20-$30 bucks. Even if you’re busy looting bodies, trinkets take home even less cash than their offline equivalents. The grind is real, and you’ll want to take any shortcut you can to earn the big bucks.

While we’re still in Beta, there is one quick method that’ll help you bring in $250+ bucks in a single mission. With that kind of windfall, you can buy Repeaters or even the Bolt Action rifle — after you’ve picked up about $100 dollars extra. Still, that’s a pretty good nest egg when you’re struggling for funds. If you’re looking to customize your character, or just want some spending money, there’s one particular mission you’ll want to take right away.

To earn a quick $250+, you’ll need to complete the tutorial and drop into the Free Roam / Posse mode. When that’s over with, you’ll be able to soak in the story with friends, solo, or with random players. To get started, we’re going to skip ahead to a later mission.

  • Tap [D-Pad: Left] to open the Free Roam Menu
  • Select Quick Join -> Story Mission On-Call

This will place you in a Story Mission lobby. You can play with friends, or solo and get match-made with other friendly players looking to co-op a story mission. These will drop you into random missions. They’re pretty lucrative the first time you complete one — you’ll get $20, $30, or $40 bucks per completion.

The real breadwinner is a mission called “Kill Them, Each and Every One” — this takes about ten minutes real-time, and drops a huge reward — $250+.

To get the biggest reward, you’ll want to avoid dying mid-mission. On top of that, you can only earn the big cash reward once per mission completion. You can’t farm story missions for extra cash, unfortunately. You’ll have to find other activities for an endless supply of cash — but, there should be plenty of story missions to take on.
